A light box is an exterior sign lit up by fluro tubes housed inside a metal or acrylic/perspex box. Light boxes come in many shapes and sizes. The designs can be full colour graphics or simple, single coloured lettering.
Light boxes come in different designs:-
- Opal acrylic - white coloured acrylic or perspex with fluro lights behind to make the lettering or graphics light up at night. Opal acrylic normally slides in from one side of the box.
- Back lit pvc material - similar to opal acrylic boxes but with a hinged face to open upwards. Great for tight spaces. The backlit pvc light boxes are good where ther is a problem with people throwing things as the items will just bounce off, and are easier to replace tubes when they have blown. There is no need to slide out the face as it is hinged at the top, all you do is unscrew 1 or 2 screws & lifht the face upwards.
All light boxes need to be hard wired by a qualified electrician. Timers can be used to keep your sign eco-friendly.
